[ July, 2007 ] : Dr. Mala Das has joined the group at the LSBB for four months, during which she will learn our detector fabrication and operation techniques, and effect a run. She is joined by Engº Jean Charles Hoube, from the University of Avignon, who has recently joined the fabrication team.

[ May, 2007 ] : SIMPLE will graduate to “2 SIMPLE”, a next generation logical continuation with aim at the development of a bulk superheated liquid (BSL) dark matter search (2 SIMPLE/BSL) capable of exploring the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon cross section with sensitivities of order 10-10 pb, while at the same time continuously producing (2 SIMPLE/SDD) results of increased spin-independent sensitivity (~ 10-7 pb) over the development period using superheated droplet devices (SDDs).

[ April, 2007 ] : a C2ClF5 prototype SDD, made in the newly-commissioned 210 mwe underground fabrication facility of the LSBB last November, has been successfully operated for 4 months, a factor 3 longer than previous fabrications.

[ February, 2007 ] : analyses of the CF3I prototype data from the November 2006 mission has produced first dark matter exclusion results with such a device (see “Current Results”).

[ January, 2007 ] : in the absence of information from the local Portuguese funding authority as to either their fellowship candidacies or new project evaluations, Drs. Morlat and Giuliani have accepted postdoctoral positions with the PICASSO and DEAP experiments, respectively.

[ December, 2006 ] : a CF3I prototype SDD was successfully operated for ~4 days during a LSBB mission in November 2006.
