Abstract:
Bass-Serre theory has proved an invaluable tool for combinatorial
group theorists in providing information on the structure of
groups by studying the action of a group on a graph or tree.
Recently, similar techniques have started to be developed in the
theory of inverse semigroups and the author will discuss some of
these with particular emphasis on the structure of inverse
semigroup amalgams and HNN extensions.
